Project Overview
Great Oaks Charter School is a network of innovative schools providing quality education and support to students. They approached me to redesign their website, which was outdated and did not effectively meet their needs. As the sole UI/UX designer on this project, I used Adobe XD to create a user-friendly, visually appealing website that better reflected the school's values and mission.
The Problem
The school's previous website had significant usability issues, making it difficult for users to navigate and access essential information. The design lacked consistency and did not convey the school's branding effectively. This led to a lack of engagement and frustration among users, including students, parents, and staff.
The Solution
To address these challenges, I focused on creating a cohesive, easy-to-navigate website that aligned with Great Oaks Charter School's brand and mission. My role included:
UI/UX Design: I redesigned the website's user interface and user experience using Adobe XD, creating a clean and modern design that improved navigation and accessibility.
Branding Alignment: I ensured the website's design aligned with the school's branding, incorporating colors, typography, and imagery that reflected Great Oaks Charter School's identity.
Information Architecture: I reorganized the website's content to create a logical structure and streamline navigation. This made it easier for users to find the information they needed.
User Testing and Feedback: I conducted user testing and gathered feedback from stakeholders, including students, parents, and staff. This informed design decisions and helped create a website tailored to their needs.
Major challenges included working within tight timelines and managing expectations while maintaining high design quality. Additionally, aligning the website's design with the school's branding and ensuring consistency across different sections required careful attention.
